Introductory Training for Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering but don't know where to start, we invite you to attend the Introductory Training for Volunteers.

The introductory training, attended by approximately 250 individuals each year, is designed for those preparing for volunteer work and those already engaged as volunteers. It covers general topics essential to volunteering, providing a broader perspective on the field and alerting volunteers to potential risks while guiding their actions. The training is structured using experiential learning methods, encouraging participants to explore specific topics and exchange experiences.

We will cover the following topics:

• What is volunteering and its role in society,
• Working with diverse individuals and attitudes towards societal stigmatization,
• Giving a lot and receiving even more: motivation for volunteer work,
• The relationship between volunteers and beneficiaries,
• Communication,
• Rights and responsibilities of volunteers,
• Ethical principles in volunteer work.

The training will take place on Tuesday, 19th march 2023, from 9 am to 4 pm, at  Slovenian Philanthropy in Ljubljana (Cesta Dolomitskega odreda 11). The introductory training in English is intended for individuals who do not speak Slovenian sufficiently to follow the content covered in the two-day introductory training in the Slovenian language.

How can you register for the training?

Submit an electronic application. A few days before the training we will send the applicants an email with the detailed information about the training.
